thought I'd post my 2010 ride just to get your opinions on here.
Ummmm all paints faskolor..gold glitter backed pearl black at the rear with flourescent razberry fading through orange and yellow with a white nose. All done with LMF with design hand sketched on the outside and then hand cut.Was mainly trying to practise and improve my cutting out of pinstripes and lettering. Ignore the hole I had to patch on the left - cut it out to clear the throttle linkage before I worked out a way to lower it enough to clear the low-profile shell.

Hi Gizmatron,
I think your blending (yellow to red) is solid. The warm gold glitter works well with the warmth of the orange/yellow. I think the pins are a little wide. Thinner would make them a little more elegant. The biggest critique I'd have is with the window. The white trim really stands out significantly. Toward the front of the window the trim curves which conflicts with the sharp rigided pins next to it. I'd recommend NOT following the contour of the window but instead extend the small round area into a sharp point. This would match your pins and tie the window into the design better. Check out CZECH's work as he is a master at doing this. The White area at the front might look better with a pin seperating it from the yellow. The zero in 808 on the side would look better if it were not solid black, let the body show through, like the decal on the fin. Overall a solid paint job.

Topwater pretty much nailed this one.
The first thing that stood out to me was the thick pinstripes and second was bright window trim. I agree that your color fades/blending is spot on!
I think a skinnier pinstripe, and ignoring the factory window lines and closing that huge space up a little and picking a different color window trim will go a long way! Even it the window trim was solid black... and about half that width. Trim is supposed to accent, not stand out
Overall.. great job man! |

Althought I agree with G and TW for the most part I actually like the larger pin stripes.
Though a pin stripe is mainly used to accent a certain of the design I like how it contrasts with the two colors it seperates.
It kinda makes my eyes fight over which side of the body to look at |

Ok...the Likes:
Clean Lines
Good Transition from Red, Orange, Yellow, and White
No visible Bleeds
FasPearl Black accentuates the front graphic
Dislikes:
The three top scallops don't match the side scallops
Would have preferred the window trip to be silver the more i look at it.
No drop shadows on the scallops.
silver pinstripes a bit thinner to match the window trim
Overall, it is a clean paintjob. it will be noticeable on the track and easy to spot, and in racing, that is what counts. Thankyou for sharing and i hope all teh BRUTAL TRUTH comments help you be a better painter! Keep them coming! |

Looks good, very clean fades. the 808 really stands out, here is something to consider.
you mentioned tracing the 808 onto the outside of the body (im guessing by holding the 808 on the inside of the shell)
Heres a tip that will make the hand cutting logos easier.
When you are getting ready to print the logo off the computer to be traced:
First open the image in a photo editing program ( i use ACDsee)
Click edit then flip it horizontal so it is backwards and save as same image name with a 1 added so the original still exists.
Print to size then trim off the excess and tape it to the outside of the body print side in.
use that as a cut line.
This will help the lines not move around during multiple stages of transferring. It will save some time as well. |

OK guys ..sorry not to look in at your replies for a few days...yes as the top pic shows I've been lambing...and with 2 on bottles I've been up every 3 hours round the clock for the last 5 days now.. Ok back to the paint..I agree the white window trim is a bit bright but it's not so bad in real light..the camera flash made it stand out more with the harsh reflection. And the silver started out as a thinner hand cut job but it wasn't as straight as I wanted to I added some thin masking tape as a guide and 7mm was all I had.
Oh and forget who said it but why don't the side scallops match the upper ones..color ??shape..??
and yes the 808 is paint not a sticker..
It was meant to be bright as it's my race ride for this year. |

| Just meant that the side scallops has 2 connected Asymetric scallops while the top 3 were Symetrical scallops. I would have kept then ALL symetrical if that was the theme. |

| Fair enough..I was just trying to keep it a little straighter along the side so I could fit the 808 logo in....plenty more coming.. |
